Caregiver
Consortium
The Caregiver Consortium is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization
dedicated to improving quality of life for older adults and their
caregivers in Tucson, Pima County and the surrounding region. The
Consortium was founded and incorporated in 1999 with a vision to
foster collaboration and partnerships with business leaders and
professionals from the public and private sector that work in the
health care industry, business community and not-for-profit agencies.
The purpose of the Caregiver Consortium is to enhance or implement
services for caregivers and older adults that strengthen the continuum
of care.
AARP Webplace
This site has a caregiving section that discusses caregiving options
and includes information on caregiver support, long-term care financing,
help with home care, housing options, assistive devices, and caregiving
for adult children.
National Alliance
for Caregiving - A National Resource on Caregiving
The National Alliance for Caregiving is dedicated to providing support
to family caregivers and the professionals who help them and to
increasing public awareness of issues facing family caregivers.
Family Caregiver
Alliance
FCA is a public voice for caregivers. Their programs, information,
education, services, research and advocacy, support and sustain
the work of families nationwide, caring for loved ones with chronic,
disabling health conditions. Their site includes an excellent series
of caregiver fact sheets, a statistics and research section with
several research articles of interest to caregivers.
National Family
Caregivers Association (NFCA)
The NFCA site provides caregivers with tips, advocacy updates, as
well as information on communicating effectively with healthcare
professionals. The site also offers a section on sharing your caregiving
story, where family caregivers can write in to share their personal
caregiving experience. Additionally, the site provides information
on becoming a NFCA member and ordering publications.
National Organization
for Empowering Caregivers
Their mission is to provide assistance, education, support, respite
and referrals for informal family caregivers, as well to promote
public awareness about the realities of caregiving. They are also
committed to encouraging mutual collaboration with other organizations
to serve the growing needs of family and informal caregivers.
TCAP
TCAP confidentially collects, quantifies and interprets facts, opinions
and needs of family caregivers to enable health care products manufacturers,
service providers and policy makers gain insight to improve products,
services, programs and support for America’s caregiving families.
The Well Spouse
Foundation
This site gives support to husbands, wives and partners of the chronically
ill and/or disabled. They provide a bi-monthly newsletter, "Mainstay;"
mutual aid support groups in many areas; letter writing support
groups; an annual conference; and other regional and weekend meetings
around the country. The organization also works to make health care
professionals and the general public aware of the difficulties caregivers
face every day.
Living Arrangements
American Association
of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA)
The site offers information on selecting housing and care options
including lists of accredited care communities. Publications are
offered on planning ahead for housing needs, as well as caregiving
issues, considering housing options, and paying for care.
National Association
for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC)
The site provides information on home and hospice care. The consumer
information section is based on their consumer guide, How to Choose
a Home Care Provider: A Consumer's Guide, a resource for identifying
who provides home care and what services are provided, who pays
for these services, and how to find and select the right provider.
Senior Sites
This site provides a listing of nonprofit senior housing, assisted
living facilities, and retirement communities that are members of
the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Housing
options and levels of care are described, and the directory for
over 5,000 communities is searchable by state and county.
Legal Issues
The National Academy
of Elder Law Attorneys
A non-profit association that assists lawyers, bar organizations
and others who work with older clients and their families. The site
is a resource of information, education, networking and assistance
to those who must deal with the many specialized issues involved
with legal services to the elderly and disabled

Eldercare Locator
The Eldercare Locator helps older adults and their caregivers find
local services for seniors. A service of the U.S. Administration
on Aging, this site helps consumers easily link to the information
and referral (I&R) services of their state and area agencies on
aging. These I&R programs can help you identify appropriate services
in the area where you or your family member resides.
